![]() ![]() Or, you could buy the Klipsch THX Ultra 2 setup and be happy in a weekend. It CAN be done.I've done it, but it isn't as easy. All in all, you have some work cut out if you decide to go the commercial cinema speaker route. Ironically, the THX Ultra 2 setup would work well.but the previously mentioned Danley DTS-20 or something like a Bag End Quartz is a far better choice. You would be better to mix a different sub into the system that has the extension and can keep up dynamically with the mains. This is done for increased output and longevity. Also, the commercial subs aren't the best choice.most of them roll off pretty heavily below 35hz including the 4546 which is about 10 DB down at 20 hz WITH equalization (without, it is -3db at 35hz). Also, the dispersion pattern on the mains is designed for a lot more throw distance than you have and you'll need to be very careful how you do acoustic treatment (the Ultra 2 system also needs proper treatment but the dispersion pattern is a bit better suited for a smaller rooms). The JBL system will take a lot more work to sound good than the Ultra 2 system, particularly the surrounds which have a fixed X-curve de-emphasis that isn't defeatable and will require some EQ to keep them from sounding dull. ![]() Why do I care? Because I like to hear feedback on Klipsch products, and am tired of every thread involving Klipsch turning into a battle between you and everyone else. There are plenty of people who say negative things about products, yet for some reason you seem to be the one everyone has a problem with. ![]() I believe you have a lot of valuable information to add around here, you just seem to have problems communicating in a manner that is generally accepted. Or, maybe your refusal to walk away from personal attacks shows a lack of personal confidence in yourself. Maybe your post count and experience in the industry has given you more confidence in your trade of work than what is reasonable. ![]() What makes more sense, clarifying your opinion and understanding that your way of commenting on a situation might be misunderstood by someone, or refusing to accept any blame and fighting back? If no, and you receive a personal attack, here's the second question to ask. If you answered yes, then I'm guessing you didn't get the personal attack. Was your opinion of someone's speakers conveyed to them in a non-condescending way? ![]()
